James K. Mah, DDS, MSc, MRCD(C), DMSc
Dr. James Mah is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Southern California and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. At USC he is the Director of Redmond Imaging Center and the Director of the Craniofacial Virtual Reality Laboratory. The Redmond Imaging Center operates a cone-beam CT (CBCT) and provides services to dentists within USC and outside as well. His research has been focused on creating virtual 3-dimensional craniofacial patients upon which diagnosis, treatment planning and simulations can be performed.
Dr. Mah obtained his Bachelor of Science, Doctorate of Dental Surgery, Master of Science degrees and his Certificate of Specialization in Orthodontics from the University of Alberta, Canada. He then graduated from Harvard Medical School with a Doctorate of Medical Science degree and completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the Department of Orthopaedics at Children’s Hospital, Boston. He was a full-time faculty member in the Department of Orthodontics at Harvard School of Dental Medicine prior to his current positions. Dr. Mah has authored over 80 publications, four textbooks, several book chapters and has made over 100 presentations nationally and internationally.
Dr. Mah is a recognized expert in 3-Dimensional imaging, visualization and modeling. His work has been featured in the Los Angeles Times, The National Post, Tech TV, and other magazines and journals. His research laboratory is funded by grants from the National Institutes of Dental and Craniofacial Research, National Science Foundation, McAlister Foundation, California Wellness Foundation, the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation, Sun Microsystems, and a number of industry partners. He is also a founder of the Conferences on Orthodontic Advances in Science and Technology and an organizer of the Biological Mechanisms of Tooth Movement conference series. He serves as an editor for the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics and is a reviewer for the American Journal of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics, Journal of Clinical Orthodontics, Korean Orthodontic Journal, the International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology, & Endodontics and Dentomaxillofacial Radiology.
M. Chad Hawkins, D.D.S.
Dr. Chad Hawkins is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, and a member of both the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association. His articles have been published in General Dentistry and The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry. He is passionate about orthodontics and takes pride in his work. Creating a winning smile in a comfortable and fun environment is his mission. He says, “I love to see patient’s confidence grow as we create a beautiful smile.”
Dr. Hawkins is married with three kids. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family, motorcycle riding, cycling, and car racing. He was born and raised in Southern California. He received a Bachelor of Science from Brigham Young University. He then attended the University of Southern California where he obtained his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree. After dental school, Dr. Hawkins served in the Army for three years where he was stationed in: Tennessee, Korea, and California. After his military service he went back to school to receive his orthodontic degree from Nova Southeastern University.
